The 7th edition of the international congress Geotunis which was opened on April 8 closed its activities on Friday, April 12 2013. The congress gathered the academic, training and investment aspects thanks to the remarkable international participation.
A number of themes, related to geomatics technologies, were discussed in 45 scientific sessions, chaired by experts and international scientists. Scientific sessions proved the importance of GIS and remote sensing in sustainable development. The congress included a number of workshops in addition to an international exhibition about geomatics technologies.
The congress scientific council came out with the following recommendations:
First: Activation of GeoSP magazine, at the international level.
Second: Creation of an international forum to exchange expertise and competencies in GIS, Geospace as a subsidiary of geotunis.
Third: Support for the efforts of the Tunisian Association of Digital Geographic Information
Fourth: Support for the 8th edition of Geotunis and empathizing the training aspect.
Fifth: Encouraging participants to use geospace and GIS technologies, taking advantage from the quick technological evolution, and working on following it through the development of training, exchange of expertise, and taking advantage from the international scientific experience.
Companies, researchers and academics were honored during the closing ceremony; also, the association and geotunis committee were granted a number of shields, medals from participants as a form of gratitude for the good organization and the scientific content of the congress.
