Dr. Mohamed AYARI, President of the Tunisian Association of Digital Geographic Information and President of the EuroArab Union of Geomatics, visited the Iraqi Republic from December 22 to December 30 2012. During this visit he met a number of Iraqi academics from different Iraqi universities. On December 22 he met Dr. Tourhan Almoufti, Minister of Communications and Minister of Iraqi Provincial Affairs in Bagdad where they discussed the possibilities of promoting cooperation at the level of communications and GIS.
President of the association moved to the province of Anbar where he visited the University of Anbar and its desert research centers, and then he discovered its cities: Arramadi and Alfalouja and their landscapes, in addition to their lifestyle. He visited also the projects by the Fourat River. During this visit he discussed the ways of promoting the scientific cooperation between the universities, institutions and the Association and union.
The president of the Association visited the province of Salaheddine where he visited the University of Takrit and met researchers and the university’s responsibles. The university and the association signed a scientific convention.
At the end of the visit to Iraq, the president of the association visited Kurdistan and met the president of the Geographic Association of Kurdistan and discussed the possibilities of scientific cooperation.
The president of the association did many meetings and was welcomed by different institutions and scientists.
